House in Corso Como

Milan

Year: 2010

Client: private

Location: Milano

Performance: Projecting and construction management for an house restoration.

Status: completed

Architectural, structural and plant projecting: Gnosis Progetti

The themes of this renovation are light and the colour that most reflects it: white.
All partitions were eliminated, the wooden structure of the roof was brought back into the light, and no less than four dormer windows were built along the roof pitch, eliminating any other additions or distracting elements to the
simplicity that was to be achieved
.
The client’s requirement was to create two living units, which could be separated and independently managed. This was possible thanks to the utilisation of all spaces, including irregular roof pitches.
The element that catches the eye at the entrance, the true heart of the project, is the kitchen block: a central counter enhanced by the use of poor materials with a vaguely industrial flavour, raw steel plates for the container doors and
reused wood
for the stools.
Upon entering, one is captivated by the
strong brightness
of the rooms, enhanced by the white on the walls and ceilings and the light pearl grey of the resin used on the floor.
The beams of the roof have been treated and bleached, at times housing LED streeps that give a pleasant effect by dematerialising the roof.
