– the restoration of the plano-altimetric relationships with the surrounding edific context
– the assignment to the wall fragments of the old structure, a new architectural and urban function
– the development of the new structure in such a way as to expand the provision of exhibition space
The project for the construction of the Museum Complex on Via Roma stems from the need to preserve and display collections that tell the history of the area. The museum will consist of two levels resulting from the interlocking of two volumes, the first on the ground floor that will dialogue with the remains of the existing building and the second with a cantilevered portion that will create a covered open buffering space on the ground floor. The two components will form a building capable of integrating with the context while keeping itself distinguishable in memory of the earthquake event.
