For the restoration of the RAI complex-a valuable Neapolitan post-rationalist work-we
restored the Auditorium to its original volume
prior to the interventions that have occurred over the years. The drafting of the project was preceded by careful and thorough historiographical and archival research of the original plans.
The design aimed at
greater fusion
between the audience and the masters, with the elimination of the spatial gap between the orchestra platform, vomitories, and seats.
The internal pathways to the hall and to the emergency exits are easy and clearly identifiable. The greatest design effort was made to restore the structure and acoustics of the hall. Essential spatial and scenic feature is the ancient organ.
The perimeter walls feature a lower part with chipboard or fireproof mdf veneer paneling with melamine wood finish in an essence to be defined.
The structure is enhanced
by elements and plays of light that give maximum prominence and scenic effect to the protagonists: the orchestra and the organ. Seating capacity has been increased from 525 to 916.
